Activity Description
Annual Meeting Online is a digital product that provides on-demand access to the rich content presented during STS 2021. The product features 95 educational sessions that incorporate the latest research, technology, and practice in all major cardiothoracic surgery disciplines. Highlights include the Presidential Address from Joseph A. Dearani, MD, and keynote lectures on the changing landscape of medical technology innovation, racial disparity in medicine and a prescription for the future, plus cardiothoracic surgeons’ frontline experiences with COVID in major cities on different continents.
Annual Meeting Online also includes a library of 31 surgical videos, 20 “Ask the Experts” sessions, joint sessions with five international medical societies, late-breaking research on topics such as ECMO and COVID-19, and top-scoring abstract sessions for each discipline, including critical care/mechanical circulatory support. The content was designed for all members of the cardiothoracic surgery team. Annual Meeting Online provides the convenience of watching anywhere and at your own pace. Purchasers can earn up to 89.25 continuing medical education credits or a certificate of participation.

Target Audience
The intended audience consists of cardiothoracic surgeons, general surgeons, anesthesiologists, oncologists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, radiologists, and allied health care providers working with cardiothoracic surgeons. MDs and DOs may claim CME credit; non-MDs/DOs are awarded a certificate of participation. Physicians Assistants (PAs) may claim AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for participating in this activity.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review the results of clinical and laboratory investigations designed to reveal new knowledge of cardiothoracic diseases or develop new technology applicable to the management of cardiothoracic diseases.
- Evaluate the impact of new knowledge and the application of new technology on the treatment of cardiothoracic diseases.
- Discuss the importance of patient safety issues and how current strategies can be introduced into one’s practice or institution.
- Discuss surgical techniques in order to improve the standard of care within the specialty.
- Examine how public policy can impact the treatment of one’s patients.
- Share and summarize information provided through small group discussions facilitated by leaders in cardiothoracic surgery.
