The Vivien Thomas Symposium is sponsored by the Task Force on Diversity & Inclusion. Data has shown that workforce diversity brings cognitive perspective and returns on investment in the private sector and healthcare. In addition, diversity improves patient care, promotes innovation, and enables retention of high performing employees and trainees. Many institutions are requiring diversity in leadership and for faculty to demonstrate contributions to diversity to be hired and/or promoted.
