Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the Coding Primer for Cardiothoracic Surgeons, participants should be able to:
- Explain what ICD-10 and CPT Codes are and why they exist.
- Describe where CPT Codes come from.
- Explain how CPT Codes are converted into value in the form of Relative Value Units (RVUs).
- Describe how the number of RVUs associated with a service are determined.
Upon completion of Creating a Successful Bill Submission, participants should be able to:
- Understand the key components of a successful bill submission.
- Ensure operative reports and visit documentation are well laid out and capture relevant information to promote correct coding and mitigate errors.
- Ensure documentation captures and reports all services provided for accurate reimbursement.
