Morbid obesity and advanced heart failure are severe pathological conditions that individually present a poor mid term prognosis. Patients suffering both diseases present a particularly challenging scenario in which one pathology may preclude the treatment of the other, as most programs will not offer heart transplantation for morbidly obese patients, and their advanced heart failure precludes them from exercise or surgical interventions targeting weight loss. The goal of this session is review strategies to facilitate the management of morbidly obese patients presenting with advanced heart failure.
