Product Questions

How do I log-in to the STS Learning Center?

You should click on Log In on the Learning Center home page and log-in with your STS.org username and password.

How do I purchase STS Online products?

Click on the "Activities Directory" tab in the main menu of the home page, and select an Activity from the Activity Title list. Then select "Access Activity" from the preview page. You should then log-in with your STS username and password, and proceed to the Purchase step within the activity workflow.

How do I access the educational activities?

Click on the "Activities Directory" tab in the main menu of the home page. You can filter your results based on topic, activity type, and the type of credit available. If no filter is applied, all offerings will be shown. Click on the activity title to see an overview of the program you are interested in. If you wish to proceed, click the "Access Activity" button.

How do I access the videos on my mobile device?

To access the videos on your mobile device, select the Online product you would like to view, and then select the session and presentation you would like to view. Then, click on the presentation thumbnail/link. This will launch the video of that presentation via your mobile device.

CME Questions

Is there a transcript or total of my continuing education credits?

Yes. You can view your transcript by clicking on the "View Your Transcript" link under "My Account." All of the STS activities in which you have participated, as well as documentation from activities from other organizations that you have entered into the system, will appear on your transcript with a total amount of credit you have earned for your participation.

What types of continuing education credit does The Society of Thoracic Surgeons offer?

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

How does the CME work if I attended the live meeting?

If you attended the live meeting, you may only claim credit within the Learning Center for those sessions that you did not attend while at the live meeting. Any session attended at the live meeting for which live credit was claimed cannot be used for online CME credit claiming.

Can I claim credits for CME-eligible activities on my mobile device?

Yes. You may view CME-eligible content and claim credit on your iPad® or iPhone® or Android™ mobile device, as well as through the STS Learning Center site.

When can I claim my credit?

You may claim your credit after passing a post-test and/or completing an evaluation. Credits are available only while an activity is available. Expired activities do not allow for credit claiming.

How do I obtain my CME certificate?

Once you have completed an activity, you can complete the evaluation and print your CME certificate directly from that activity page. You can also click the "My Account" link in the upper right section on the Learning Center home page at any time. Select "View/Download Certificates" from the menu options to view and/or print certificates from your completed activity list.

Can I obtain my previous year's certificates?

Yes, you can access your certificates from any prior year by clicking on "My Account" in the upper right section on the Learning Center home page. Select View/Download Certificates from the menu options to view and/or print certificates from your completed activities list.

Where can I find CME information and faculty disclosures?

CME information and faculty disclosures are included within each activity in the Learning Center in the CME Information step within the Activity Details workflow.

How can I upload non-STS certificates to add to my printable transcript?

If you would like to upload CME certificates you have received from non-STS activities, click here. This feature if provided to you so you may have an overall listing of all of your CME credit information. Most file types are accepted for upload.

Technical Questions

What are the system and browser requirements for optimal site and video viewing?

For PC users, we recommend using a computer that is running the most recent version of Microsoft Windows.

For Macintosh users, we recommend using a computer that is running OS X or later.

Although the presentations and website can be viewed on any browser, we suggest Google Chrome for PC users and the latest version of Firefox for Macintosh users. Make sure your computer's software and browsers are updated regularly for an optimal experience.

What monitor settings are recommended for viewing the programs?

Due to the media-rich content, we recommend viewing programs at a minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, but preferably 1024 x 768 pixels.
